RYME with Atlyss
By Lauren Vega
Atlyss was created with the intention of offering delicious, health-forward food that makes you stop and savor. Founder Jenny Gaddy believes that food has the power to bring people together, the power to connect. She wanted to give her customers the ability to connect with their food, themselves, and the people they love through handcrafted meals delivered to their doorstep.
Our team was recently introduced to the RYME duo, Hanna and Loes. Hanna, a Charleston native, has practiced and studied yoga for the last 15 years. This strong foundation, combined with her training and her experiences leads her to offer creative, safe, supportive, and balanced classes accessible to all levels. Loes, originally from Holland, has counseled people from all walks of life for the past 17 years in various therapeutic settings. Her own life experiences and her education lead her to explore creative ways to mentor others on their path of self discovery where connection is key.
Together in 2021, they developed an effective way to teach others to become more in sync with the rhythm of their natural self. These talents and teachings are what constitute their business, RYME. RYME stands for recycle your mindset (experiences). The entrepreneurial duo have led countless community events, created an online platform & created a 6 week, integrative & therapeutic retreat program. They have already led 2 retreats and plan to expand and continue RYMING around the world.
So what do Atlyss and RYME have in common?
“Food is such a big part of our lives. When you RYME with food, you learn how to live effectively and consciously, making choices that support yourself,” says Loes.
And Atlyss is all about making conscious choices. We choose to source our food from local farmers because we want to be good stewards of this earth we inhabit. We choose to deliver your food in compostable packaging because we do not want to create more waste for future generations to live amongst. We choose to pay our employees a liveable wage because we value the security & happiness of our fellow humans. Our choices as a business are a recycled version of the modern food system and we hope that by leading by example, we encourage our customers to recycle their mindsets around food too.
Why should I recycle my mindset?
“People who are ordering this food are conscious about what they’re putting in their body which means they’re curious about how food influences them and their system, how to be the best version of themselves,” says Hanna. “They’re already in the process of recycling their mindset around food, so working with us gives them that same awareness but in so many other facets of their lives.”
While the RYME duo uses movement and mindful practices to teach you how to connect with yourself and others, they also incorporate these teachings through other modalities in the external world, including how we work, play, and eat.
How can I RYME with food?
At Atlyss, RYME has given us a different lens through which we look at what we do. From our locally sourced ingredients to our compostable packaging to our partnership with CompostNow, this concept of recycling is integral in our business. Through RYME, you learn to re-evaluate yourself, the world around you, and the people you connect with. Through Atlyss, you are nourishing your own body, supporting your community, and sitting down to a meal with the people you love. You are connecting in so many ways.
“Even cooking is RYMEing. By having those small elements of cooking, to smell the product, feel it, understand how it comes together to create this beautiful dish, that’s a consciousness that we don’t have when we don’t consider where our food is coming from.” Loes
Making this life conscious, interactive, present, and fun, that’s what RYME is all about.
How can I RYME with Hanna & Loes, in Charleston & around the world?
As a Charleston native, Hanna hopes to inspire others from her home through RYME. She sold her home here along with all of her things, moved to Costa Rica without a plan, and has ended up creating this business with her best friend. She hopes to ignite a curiosity about making change in our own lives. Her decision was one of her most impactful in embodying trust and taking a leap of trust to create a life that rymed.
“It doesn’t have to be so drastic as selling everything you own and moving to a foreign country,” she laughs. “But you can take those leaps of trust in little ways that you feel like you want to change, whether it’s how you eat, how you interact, how you socialize, how you choose to spend your money, how you choose to explore and experience the world outside of charleston, and most importantly how you choose to experience and explore the world within yourself.”
